Reintroducing Me

This new blog is now part of the Fatosphere feed, which is exciting! So, a brief reintroduction, and some context.

I feel the need to reintroduce myself as I’ve changed from how I was when I started blogging two and a half years ago. I’m not precisely the same me.

When I started blogging, what I had to say had to do with having type 2 diabetes, being fat, and being a mom. These days, I’m tuned into the intersectionality of fatness and constructs of health with other states of being and social constructs. More of a meta-level than before.

I now have 4 places where I blog: here, less and less at wellroundedtype2 at Xanga, infrequently at the wonderful Angry Gray Rainbows, and starting now at a new blog, Thriving in EverRain about local events and goings on in my community. To know more about me, the “about” at EverRain is probably the most comprehensive. The photo of me there is also the one that truly captures me at my best, most happy, self.

This “me of today” needed a new name. I’ve outgrown “WellRoundedType2” — and I am now using “AcceptanceWoman” as my screen name. It’s cheesy, and sounds like a second-rate superhero. Yet it fits. And by “acceptance” I don’t mean a fatalistic acceptance of the status quo, I mean a radical acceptance of what is and what needs to change, with an awareness of my role and responsibility in that. It’s a “quantum” level of acceptance — fluctuating, energetic, birds-eye view when possible.

I hope you’ll feel welcome commenting here — taking me to task when you disagree, sharing your perspective, calling me on my “shit.” (We can’t be alive without the need to cast off some crap from time to time.)

I hope to see you around!

    I’ll second that notion.
